Welcome to Sarah Jordan Photography!

Hi, I'm Sarah, a Walnut Creek family photographer serving families throughout the East Bay and Bay Area. For more than eight years, I’ve had the privilege of photographing life’s most meaningful moments—from maternity and newborn sessions to growing families, seniors, and everything in between.

Photography became deeply personal to me after experiencing significant loss at a young age. It taught me how quickly time passes and how valuable it is to preserve the people and moments we love. That perspective is at the heart of every session I photograph.

As a mom myself, and with years of experience working in childcare, I know how to connect with children of all ages. I’m patient, down-to-earth, and I believe family sessions should be fun—not stressful. With gentle guidance, playful prompts, and plenty of laughter, I create a relaxed experience where kids can simply be themselves. Those genuine smiles, real connections, and little in-between moments are often the ones families treasure most.

Whether we’re chasing golden light in a beautiful East Bay park or documenting those sweet newborn snuggles at home, my goal is to create timeless, heartfelt images that tell your family’s story. If you’re looking for a photographer who will help your family feel comfortable, have fun, and create beautiful memories along the way, I’d love to meet you.

 Kind Words

" I would just like to say that our experience with Sarah was fantastic! My kids can be a challenge! From fits, to crying, to running off, and her patience and talent for engaging with them made the whole session so much easier. I thought we would receive maybe one or two good shots, but we received a whole album of gorgeous pictures! I can’t recommend her enough to families wanting a laid back, professional, patient, and talented photographer! "            - Julie G.

What should we wear for our photo session?
Once you book your session, you’ll receive a style guide with tips on coordinating outfits. I’m also happy to help you choose clothing that photographs beautifully and fits your family’s style.

Where do family sessions take place?

I photograph families throughout the East Bay, including Walnut Creek, Concord, Pleasant Hill, Danville, Lafayette, Orinda, San Ramon, Martinez, and Clayton. I can recommend locations based on the look you’re hoping to achieve.

What time of day is best for family photos?

Most outdoor sessions are scheduled during the hour before sunset for the most flattering light. However, I also know of beautiful East Bay locations that work well earlier in the day.

What if my children don't cooperate?

Don’t worry! As a family photographer and mom, and someone who spent years in childcare, I understand that children have their own schedules and personalities. My sessions are relaxed and designed to be fun, allowing genuine smiles and authentic moments to shine through.

When will we receive our photos?

Your gallery will be delivered within two weeks of your session through a private online gallery where you can download and share your images.

Do you photograph extended families?

Yes! Extended family sessions are a wonderful way to capture multiple generations together. There is an Extended Family Session option for booking on my family page here.

How do I book a family photo session with you?

You can visit my booking site here to book your session. You can also email me if you have questions or need help with your booking.
